Fire Guard Test is an independent practice resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), the City of New York, or any accredited school or training provider. "FDNY" is a trademark of the City of New York and is used here only to describe the exams our practice material helps you prepare for. Every question here is original, written from the study material the FDNY publishes free of charge; none is a real exam question, and our mock exams are not identical to the real exam. Exam rules, fees and study material can change without notice, so always check the current official study material and Notice of Exam on nyc.gov before your test. Practicing here does not guarantee that you will pass or be issued a Certificate of Fitness, and nothing on this site is legal or fire-safety compliance advice.
No affiliation or endorsement
Fire Guard Test is an independent business. We are not part of, approved by, endorsed by or working with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), the City of New York, or any accredited school, training provider or employer. We are not a Certificate of Fitness course. Nothing on this site is official FDNY or City information.
“FDNY” is a trademark of the City of New York. We use it only to describe which exams our practice material relates to, never as branding, and we do not use any FDNY or City logo, shield or insignia.
Original questions, written from free public material
The FDNY publishes a free study booklet and Notice of Exam for each Certificate of Fitness on nyc.gov. Every question, answer choice and explanation on Fire Guard Test is original work written from those public booklets. We do not use, have or accept real exam questions, and we do not reproduce the booklets themselves; we link to the official copies instead. If you believe something here reproduces protected material, please contact us and we will review it promptly.
Always check the official material
The FDNY revises its booklets, exams, fees and procedures from time to time, often without notice. Exam facts on this site (such as question counts, time limits, the passing score and requirements) come from the FDNY's published booklets and show the date we last checked them, but they may be out of date by the time you read them. Before you apply or sit an exam, read the current booklet and the General Notice of Exam on nyc.gov. Where anything here differs from the official material, follow the official material.
Not safety, legal or compliance advice
Our questions and explanations help you learn what the study material says so you can prepare for an exam. They are not instructions for doing a fire guard, fire alarm, place of assembly, torch operation or laboratory job, and they are not legal or fire-code compliance advice for any building, event or workplace. In a real emergency, call 911. For what your job requires, follow the Fire Code, the FDNY and your employer.
No guarantee of results
Using Fire Guard Test does not guarantee that you will pass an exam or be issued, keep or renew a Certificate of Fitness, or that you will get or keep a job. Practice scores apply only to our own questions and are a guide to how well you know the study material, not a prediction of your result on the real exam.
Refunds
If Fire Guard Test is not right for you, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. Fees you pay to the FDNY or the City are separate and are not refundable by us. See our Terms of Service.
