How many questions are on the C-14 exam?
The FDNY's Notice of Exam says: C-14: 50 questions in 76 minutes. You need at least 70% to pass.
Where do I take the C-14 exam?
At FDNY Headquarters, 9 MetroTech Center, Brooklyn. It is multiple-choice questions on a touch-screen computer, with a time limit. The FDNY's general Notice of Exam lists a $25 application fee.
Are these the real exam questions?
No. Every question here is original, written from the study material the FDNY publishes free. The real exam uses its own questions, so learn the material rather than memorizing answers.
Do I need anything special to take the C-14?
The Notice of Exam requires a recommendation letter from your employer on official letterhead, confirming your training on the lab's emergency plan and hazardous materials. It also requires one of these qualifications, with proof such as a transcript: a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, a related science or certain engineering fields; an associate degree in those fields plus an employer lab safety course; 60 college credits (at least 21 in science or engineering) plus an employer lab safety course; New York State permanent certification as a chemistry or biology teacher (grades 7 to 12); or a New York State clinical laboratory technology license. Check the booklet for the exact wording. The Notice of Exam says reference material is provided in the exam room if your exam needs it.
