About Fire Guard Test
Thousands of people a year need a Certificate of Fitness to work as a fire guard, place of assembly staff or building fire alarm supervisor in New York City, and most of the practice material online is either free and unreliable or dated. Fire Guard Test exists to give you well-checked practice at the real exam length, with every answer explained.
How we write the questions
We start from the free study booklet the FDNY publishes for each certificate. We read the whole booklet, write original questions on what it says, and point each explanation back to the section of the booklet it comes from, so you can check it yourself.
- Every fact we test is stated in the official booklet. Where the booklet is unclear or contradicts itself, we leave it out rather than guess.
- We never copy the booklet's wording, its sample questions or any real exam question.
- Each question bank is checked automatically for one correct answer per question and a balanced spread of answer positions, and then reviewed against the booklet.
- We record which revision of each booklet we used and check for new revisions, because the FDNY updates them without notice.
What we won't claim
We are not the FDNY or the City of New York, we are not endorsed by them, and we are not an accredited school or course. Our questions are practice, not the real exam. We never promise that you will pass. Read the full disclaimer.
Found a mistake?
If a question or explanation doesn't match the current official booklet, please tell us: email hello@fireguardtest.com or use the contact page. We check every report against the booklet. Please don't send real exam questions.
